ClassiPress Resources
This section is designed to give ClassiPress customers additional resources to help them become more successful with their sites.
Language Packs
By default, ClassiPress is translated into English but the theme has a built-in capability to be used in any language. ClassiPress uses the GNU gettext localization framework which is the WordPress de facto standard for localization. The ClassiPress community has already translated ClassiPress into several different languages which will be posted below as they become available.
Assuming that a ClassiPress translation into your language does not already exist, you are welcome to volunteer to create a public translation of WordPress into your native language. You will receive full credit for your work as well as a link back to your site.
Version 2.9.3

Version 2.8.2
- English (classipress1.pot) – Use this as your template to translate into your native language
- Portuguese (pt_PT.mo) – translated by Antonio
- French (fr_FR.mo) – translated by unknown
To install a translation, download the .MO file and upload it to your theme directory. You also need to make sure the setting of the WPLANG value in the wp-config.php file matches the translation. Read more about this in the forums.
The theme contains a .PO so anyone can translate the words using a tool such as poEdit. I would greatly appreciate if translations could be sent to me so that I can include them here for everyone else.
WordPress Tutorials
If you’re a newbie to WordPress (or even just setting up a new blog or website) and looking for a fast and efficient way to get training, I highly recommend WordPress Wizard 2.0. The step-by-step video tutorials show you exactly how to setup a WordPress blog in minutes. Not only that, it includes how to register a domain, setup web hosting, install and use ftp, and much more.
It’s the perfect companion to ClassiPress and something you should definitely consider if you’ve never installed your own WordPress instance before. I’ve personally signed up and can vouch for the quality and completeness of the video courses. All the videos are created in such a way that even the most complex tactics are broken down into small, easy-to-understand parts. For only $97, it’s well worth the investment! Learn more…
Custom Development
For the majority of our customers, ClassiPress has enough features to match their requirements and no custom work is needed. There is, however a small percentage of customers who want to have some custom design or development work done. Unfortunately, the ClassiPress team does not provide any custom services at this time but can recommend two alternatives.
- Elance – Elance is a great site for posting your projects ranging from design, development, writing, or pretty much anything. It’s the leading website for online work where you can connect with independent professionals to get work done. I highly recommend using this site because all you have to do is post a job (your project) and others from around the world can bid on it. You will literally get bids the same day you post your project and can choose whomever you think is the best match. Another option is to search for someone and ask them directly to help you. Do a search on their site for “WordPress” and see how many thousands of professionals are available. Elance makes their money by taking a small cut anywhere from 6.75% – 8.75%. All transactions go through Elance so you don’t have to worry about people taking your money without finishing the work first.
- Theme Services Forum – In our very own forums, you can post your job requirements for free and see if other ClassiPress customers are available to help. This is a more casual approach with no 3rd party moderating your project. In most cases you shouldn’t have any problems but please note, we are not responsible for any work or quotes given by others. Please be careful before sending anyone money or your login information.
Plugins
ClassiPress includes several plugins which are needed to get the most out of your ClassiPress site. They are not all required but highly recommended. I have listed all the plugins bundled with the ClassiPress download as well as some additional plugins I recommend using.
You can also find additional and updated documentation for each plugin by following the links to each author’s site. This is quite valuable if you wanted to do some additional or custom work to your ClassiPress using these plugins.
Plugins Included with ClassiPress (v2.9)

Having those plugins installed should be a minimum for your ClassiPress site. Now, if you really want to super-charge your site I recommend the following plugins below (Note: these are not supported ClassiPress plugins so you may have conflicts or issues. If so, please refer to the authors site(s) for support.)

Logged in administrators get full access to the blog including the front-end. Perfect when first setting up your site and don’t want others to see it under construction. Author: Michael Wöhrer
